Radishes, Mixed- These mixed winter radishes are much different than their relative spring radishes like Red Globe or French Breakfast. Your bounty could include: Watermelon, Daikon (Purple and White). Harvested in the fall or early winter, they will keep for months in cold storage so you can enjoy them all winter long. Radishes are a cruciferous root vegetable that contains Sulfurophane, which studies have shown has a role in fighting against cancer.

Crunchy and pungent, and much larger in size, these radishes actually do well in preparations with heat like roasting or braising. When raw, they can be sliced thin, into matchsticks, grated, turned into delicious pickles, or added to a kimchi recipe.

To keep your radishes nice and crunchy, store in a sealed plastic bag with a damp paper towel wrapped around them. Keep chilled in the refrigerator.
